Mother Knows Best: Beauty Tips From My Mom

We live in a world where social media is the go-to for everything that we crave in life, whether it’s a healthy skin care routine or what we should be cooking for dinner. Well, I’m here to tell you that you don’t need social media for everything when you can literally receive the best advice from your own mother.
As a brand ambassador I know that social media is a good place for helpful life hacks, however I know the most valuable life lessons were taught by my mother. Here are five easy beauty tips from my mom, Tachaya. (Tuh-shy-yuh)
1. A Skincare Routine...AND STICK TO IT!
I absolutely agree with my mother on this, because I am a stickler when it comes to a routine. We both believe that you need to cleanse your face for up to 60 seconds using your favorite facial cleanser in the morning and at night before bed and follow up with your serums and moisturizers. I promise you once you find out what works for you and you are consistent, then you will immediately notice a difference.
2. Water--YES, WE'RE SERIOUS
I know we constantly hear that we need to drink plenty of water and its the truth. Everything that we are carrying on the inside is shown on the outside. Personally, I drink close to one gallon a day. Have a friend be your accountability partner to help you with drinking enough water or invest in an inspirational or tracking water bottle to monitor your progress. I promise you by drinking plenty of water that your body will thank you.
3. Exercise --AND YOU DON'T NEED A GYM
YES, I said exercise. Believe me, it works. I’m a military member and my mother is retired from the Army. I noticed a drastic change in my skin once I started to workout beyond just preparing for a physical fitness test for the Air Force. Exercising helps to relieve stressors in our life, which is why you should want to get up and move around. I am not saying to go hard in the gym but find a physical activity you would like to do like walking, running, or even a fun Zumba class.
4. Exfoliate and Moisturize --GLOW GIRL, GLOW *Two Snaps*
We shed thousands of skin cells a day, and in order to replenish the skin cells you need to exfoliate and moisturize. This routine will help unveil fresh cells that give you a healthier appearance. 5. LESS MAKEUP IS THE UNIQUENESS OF YOU --IT REALLY IS
My mother has always told me since I was a little girl that I didn’t need all that makeup on my face to be considered beautiful. To this day she’s still a fan of a more natural look. . I remember growing up she would always tell my sister and I that all we needed is our eyebrows groomed. I still laugh every time she says it because I make sure that my brows are ALWAYS slayed before I leave the house.
My point in saying all of this is that really less is more. As long as you take care of your inside and find things that work best for you, then you will always be beautiful on the outside. I guess it goes without saying that, mother knows Best!
